With my birth package you receive:

 

 

• 1-2 doula prenatal visits in your home, where we begin to establish your desired birth wish/plan. I will explain the role of a birth doula in more detail. I will listen to any fears, anxieties, and questions that you and your partner may have, and help you come up with strategies that will help you. We will review what comfort measures you would feel most comfortable with, and then start to practice them so you will be familiar with them in the midst of labor and birth. 

• Phone support to answer questions, provide evidence-based information, encouragement etc. throughout your pregnancy.

• On call for you 24/7 from 38-42 weeks

• Support through active labor and delivery. I will join you as soon as you like once labor has started, or at the time you are scheduled for a Cesarean birth (if this is a planned Cesarean). I will provide non- judgmental care throughout labor and birth by using various physical comfort measures and relaxation techniques, by helping you change positions as needed, by providing emotional support, helping you communicate well with your medical team (though I will not communicate for you or make decisions for you). I also support partners by helping them remain calm and as involved in the birth journey as they desire. For first time couples, the partner will not always know what is normal and so just an encouragement like “this is normal” can bring much comfort to the partner. I do not take over your partner’s role. I will support you whether you have a natural birth, have medical birth interventions, or have a Cesarean birth (planned or unplanned). 

• 1-2 hours postpartum care immediately following the birth to assist you in getting comfortable and for the initial breastfeeding, if you so desire. 

• 1-2 postpartum visits in your home 1-4 weeks after birth, at a time that is convenient for you. During our visit we can review your birth experience together, and work out any questions you may have regarding what/when/why things happened during your birth journey.
